Snowflake Challenge 7 – fandom resources

In terms of key Danganronpa resources, the two main ones would be the fucking wikia wiki and the fan translations on Something Awful.
I'm mostly here for SDR2, so that's here: A peaceful tropical vacation with Super Dangan Ronpa 2 - The Something Awful Forums. It's unfinished, there's also the finished translation of the first game linked on that page. Sometimes they seem to make it only viewable to SA members, and if you don't pay for a SA account you get all the swearwords turned to baby versions, among other punishments (gently caress, anyone?). I have an account lol. Anyway, while my go-to is to play the game over and over, it's a relatively quick way to pick up on all the honorifics not included in the localisation, and it is just generally a piece of history. Many people in the DR fandom originally came from these fan translations, it's nice to have a clear record of the culture, etc.

It's a properly organised thing, with all FTEs etc. fully documented, their twitter also documents every event and official merch release, but Twitter is even worse than wikia atm. May they one day move everything to a decent website!
The other vital things I find useful aren't specific resources. Namely, setting one's search engine region to Japan and (via google translate) searching for things in Japanese, in order to get decently authentic answers.
Also, I use tor browser whenever I'm looking up crimes, and even though that's to go straight to normie sites like yahoo! answers or whatever the popular and actually running ones are these days, there's no chance of stupidly getting flagged by invasive governments. I have no actual plans to castrate a man (my fic Screaming or Without a Word), I'd prefer not to be tracked looking it up. Keep the paranoia away!
There are a few probably abandoned fan translation projects: duelnoir | NAVIGATION (dreamwidth.org) ; Kirigiri Sou and maybe newer, fuller ones, idk. I have more links I could dredge up for anthology comics and things, but a lot of them are on dodgy websites and I can't be bothered rn. This is a very useful guide. DR0 is on archive.org.

I'm seriously in love with this website, I remember doing history projects in school and coming across plenty of websites that looked like this, and some of them are still there. Search engines prioritising less good sites is a sign we're in the end times! It is a fandom resource because it was used to write this Identity V fic: Dipping Wicks in Bad Wax – Igirisuhito, which I personally enjoyed reading simply because I like threesomes.
Since we've gone off-topic completely, another great long running fandomy website is Stella's Tomb Raider Site: https://tombraiders.net/
The walkthroughs are really good, it's got downloads to all the missing stuff (though after completing a TR game, I personally do not want to do bonus levels), completed saves, timelines, cheat codes, and links to lots of community spaces etc., so much!
It would be slightly amusing to post every walkthrough I have open on my phone browser, but not particularly useful given how easy gamefaqs guides are to find. That said, the YU-NO walkthrough reminded me that Fuwanovel can be useful for VN news, and on that, VNDB is also a helpful tool for visual novels stuff. There are plenty of specific forums out there, too, you just have to look (even if search engines are now the enemy. Duckduckgo can be less bad, I suppose).
And then for Key stuff, https://kazamatsuri.org is just an archive, but interesting to browse, if only to see how (English-speaking) Key fans are so totally not slash fans. The correct way to play Clannad is as a BL! In Kappei route, Sunohara's love is briefly mentioned by some users merely as 'a running gag', and people don't seem to have picked up on Okazaki's attraction at all. It's got book clubs and forums where you can see people's thoughts on the games, but you can no longer join in (not that my important yaoi research would have been appreciated, I'm sure).

I buy my manga from Bookwalker and suffer through Crunchyroll for anime. Never read CR comment sections, never read MyAnimeList reviews, turn to Reddit only when there's no other choice. Always risk getting viruses downloading H patches from questionable sources.
This ended up quite long, despite me supposedly not having all that much to say. Some of it is probably useful for me, though, given how rarely I bookmark things, I may even add to it in the future.
